PATHOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF LIVER OF NILI-RAVI BUFFALOES IN LAHORE DISTRICT

The present study was performed at PAMCO slaughter house Shahpur Kanjra in Lahore District. The collected samples were brought to department of Pathology, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore. Study animal was the buffalos brought for slaughtering at the slaughter house. A total of 100 diseased liver samples of adult slaughtered buffaloes were collected showing gross pathological changes. The samples were examined for gross pathological abnormalities such as abscess, hemorrhage, and also examine the thickness, color and texture grossly. In histopathology; the lesions containing tissue samples were collected in 10% neutral buffered formalin for fixation. The present study reported the percentage of different disease conditions in the slaughtered buffaloes at the PAMCO slaughter house Shahpur Kanjra in Lahore District. The percentage of hydatidosis was high among all the conditions which were found 28 percent. The conditions of the amphistomiasis were also present at the slaughter house reporting the percentage of 22 percent. The cirrhosis disease was prevalent in the buffaloes at the rate of 18 percent. The percentage after the cirrhosis was found for the granulomatous hepatitis which was 16 percent. The percentages of 7 percent, 6 percent and 3 percent were found for the abscess, fascioliasis and hemorrhages respectively. 1462713932.php
